The Roshd High School for boys in Naazi-Abad, a deprived area in the south of the capital, was selected as SAF's first project based on its achievements:

1. It has had up to 90% success in the national university entrance exams.
2. It has won four medals in the International Science Olympiads.
3. It has a graduate club where ex-students of the school who are currently studying in universities help in teaching the younger students in Roshd.
