Jumping for SAFOn 21st August 2005, Mr. Abteen Sai, chairman of SAF-UK's board of trustees, will do a parachute jump to raise funds to equip an educational center being built by the Science and Arts Foundation for the people of Bam. In both his professional achievements and philanthropic endeavours, Abteen follows in the footsteps of his father, University of Tehran Professor Karim Sai, after whom Tehran's beautiful Park Sai was named.Abteen describes why he has chosen to 'Jump for SAF': "I am doing a parachute jump for the children of Bam because I believe passionately in what SAF is trying to achieve. Many people donate generously when disaster strikes. Without diminishing the value of this generosity, we should recognise that the problem is not solved that easily. We need to find long-term solutions, and education forms the backbone of that solution. Education is the main step on the road to eradicating poverty, overcoming prejudices, fighting corruption and attaining democracy. "Today, SAF is building a permanent ICT centre for the children of Bam. It has already provided computer centres, internet connections and ICT training for more than 60,000 students and educators in over 200 educational centres in Iran and is continuously building portals with content in various fields of education. "I hope that you share my sentiments and lend your support for this admirable cause." To view a poster of the event, please click here (jpg). To lean more about Abteen, please visit here (pdf).
